Design Motto and Prize

The Design Motto

The design motto of this yearŽs TIA is „Shape Sensation“.

The Triumph Inspiration Award 2010 invites students to create a lingerie sensation that makes a strong statement about shape.

This yearŽs contest is a tribute to all the shapes and curves that have been inspiring many artists through the years, from poetry to design, shapes are at source of the most beautiful masterpieces.
The ideal shape means different things to different people, at different ages and in different cultures, and at different times in history. No matter the kind of shape, it makes the world more beautiful and exciting. In short, the ideal shape doesn’t exist – but we know it is a good thing because when we talk about getting into shape we are being positive and aspirational.

As a fashion and design student youŽll know all about the shapes of the season. In fact shape and fashion can mean the same. In the specialist area of lingerie the word has even greater significance because the primary function of underwear today is to shape the body’s contours, defining, re-defining and supporting where necessary, so the fashions we wear on top look the best they possibly can, we feel great about ourselves and we’re comfortable too.

We invite you to go on your own journey of exploration into the world and structure of shape. Take a fresh perspective, play with your sense of proportion, experiment with silhouettes, examine fit and flow, stretch your creativity, bend boundaries and maybe even look at the shape of things to come. Then using all your talent and artistic vision create a unique and truly inspirational shape sensation. It can be a bra and brief set or a body, but it must include an underwire in the bust section because that is one of the main ways that the bust is shaped in lingerie today.
